Dessie O’Gorman

Artist bio

Dessie O'Gorman is a Sydney based abstract artist who believes in keeping it simple.

No grand statements here, his art captures a moment, a feeling, through thoughtful arrangements. Shape and colour takes centre stage.

His work is gallery listed in Sydney.

I create art because...

it is an exhilarating experience to put a piece of yourself out into the world.

I am different to most artists because...

I won't stay in a lane. There are no rules to be followed.

When you look at my art, the thing I want you to feel is...

a memory, a feeling. Let it flow, and enjoy it for what it is, a human experience.

The thing I most want to say to non-artists is...

like what you like, there is no need to justify what art you enjoy.

I believe art is an important part of our lives because...

our lives have so many rules, so many should-have's and must-do's. Enjoying art is something personal to each of us, something almost child-like, akin to play.
