Artist bio

As soon as I could hold a pencil I was drawing regularly and I knew I was an Artist by the age of 6, although I didn't really know what that meant. Throughout my life, I have alternated between painting, illustrating, music and dance. All of these creative expressions, for me, are fulfilling, and in a way, serve the same purpose. Currently I am involved in both painting and dance and love the combination of these two forms of expression.

I studied Visual Arts for 6 years after leaving school, completing a TAFE certificate (3 years) and Bachelor of Arts Visual Arts (COFA), UNSW.

For a long time I've been painting colourful, expressive abstract work. My work hangs in both public and private collections across Australia, with many of my larger paintings hanging in hotels and offices in the city, the largest hanging in the Crown Solicitors Office Sydney.

I create art because...

I have to. It's part of who I am. I must create. I must express colour, movement shape and flow through creative art forms, whether that be painting, dance, choreography (or through music in the past).

I am different to most artists because...

I never know what I will paint before I paint or even during the painting process. It evolves on its own, and I allow the painting to unfold to become what it wants to become.

When you look at my art, the thing I want you to feel is...

movement and flow of energy beyond the physical level, layers of (almost hidden and forgotten) history.

The thing I most want to say to non-artists is...

being an artist is usually not something a person chooses but rather something that chooses us.

I believe art is an important part of our lives because...

it takes us beyond the mundane humdrum of the material world.
