Greta Richmond
Artist bio
I'm a Melbourne based artist working with medium format film and alternative photographic processes, my practice centres on capturing organic and man made forms, reimagining them through light, composition and colour.
I often work with organic matter and am drawn to the unexpected forms and movement that takes shape as decay takes effect. Using a medium format camera informs my creative process, encouraging a slower, more considered approach to composing each frame. Through this process I aim to create images that possess a painterly quality, often abstracting the subject to invite a new way of seeing the familiar.
I create art because...
I like to create something from nothing and test the boundaries of whats possible within certain constraints
I believe art is an important part of our lives because...
It helps us see the world through someone else's perspective and allows us to visually express a feeling
