Kiran Mehta
Artist bio
I am a Melbourne based self-taught artist who loves to create using mixed media. My journey in art began when I was fighting with post natal depression. With minimal help from family, doctors and friends, I had to rely on three 'C's to fight back - Cuddles, Courage and Creating.
I love abstract and contemporary styles of art and therefore I have been developing them over the past few months. You will often find a lot of her work has natural and floral elements with texture, something that we can all connect to. I hope you would enjoy the visceral nature of it too.
I create art because...
it helps me maintain a healthy mental state and gives me strength to fight the scars from PND.
I am different to most artists because...
I am a bit selfish and I create for my own well being.
When you look at my art, the thing I want you to feel is...
I hope to convey that the strength to overcome challenges lies within you. If I can fight and survive, we all can. Keep calm and carry on.
The thing I most want to say to non-artists is...
Life is too short to be criticizing. It is OK if you cannot connect with my creations. Thank you for trying. I genuinely hope that you find an artwork that moves you.
I believe art is an important part of our lives because...
Your home and your words are a reflection of your soul. What we put up on our walls should be unique and an asset you feel proud about.
