Mina Afra
Artist bio
Mina Afra is an Iranian-born Australian painter based in Melbourne. Afra holds a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from Tehran University of Art.
Her painting practice is deeply engaged with her emotional experience in nature. She uses the subject of landscapes, not as an observed scene to render, but rather as a trigger for an internal experience.
She has exhibited in numerous group shows across Australia and was awarded the Judges’ Prize at the 2024 Albert Park Art Show. In 2023, she received the 'Best in Show’ award at the Albert Park College Annual Exhibition. Her landscapes have been selected as finalists for the 2025 Ripper Art Prize, the 2025 Waverley 9x5 Landscape Art Prize, the 2025 No Vacancy Award, the 2024 Fleurieu Biennale Art Prize, and featured in the Salon des Refusés of the Lethbridge Gallery 20000 Small Scale Prize 2024 and 2025. Her paintings are held in private collections throughout Australia.
