Artist bio

My work thrives in the realm of abstraction, where colour and texture dance together in a fluid, organic symphony. Each piece is a vibrant exploration of patterns that reflect the complexities of life, inviting viewers to engage with the unexpected connections that emerge from the chaos. Most of my work is reminiscent of cellular structures as I find them both fascinating and beautiful.
I’m driven by a passion for the interplay of the micro and macro hidden in hues and forms, often inspired by the natural world and the intricate systems that govern it. This fascination fuels my desire to create art that not only captivates the eye but also sparks curiosity and conversation. I believe that art should be a playful dialogue, a way to challenge perceptions and encourage exploration.

I create art because...

Creating art has given me the most joy in life. When I make art, the world makes sense. I have been creative since I was 5 years old, it is like art is part of my DNA. Making art is like breathing for me and I cannot not be creative and make art it's my fuel and my happy place.

I am different to most artists because...

I don't confine myself to one style or medium or material. I am directed by my intuition and my ongoing interaction with the work as it develops. I use a variety of techniques from printmaking through to collage and my work is highly detailed and layered. I am constantly looking for new forms of inspiration from nature and the man-made world. I have a fascination with the microscopic and the macroscopic and the interplay between the two.

When you look at my art, the thing I want you to feel is...

A sense of innate curiosity and a desire to stay with the work and discover more. I have always believed that art should not only grab your attention it should be able to hold it and just as you are about to walk away it silently beckons wait, I'm not finished with you yet.

The thing I most want to say to non-artists is...

To quote the great Molly Meldrum "Do yourself a favor" go and see art as much as you can. Visit a gallery at least once every few weeks, it's proven that viewing art can reduce your stress levels. Collect unknown artists and fill your space with quirky and unique pieces that can become great dinner party conversational pieces. Celebrate art and artists in all their forms, because the world would be a very dull place without the arts.

I believe art is an important part of our lives because...

Art is important because it not only reminds of the beauty in life but also can act as a catalyst for change. Artists whether they be painters, dancers, writers' or actors have the gift of seeing what others miss. The worlds in between and the details looked over in everyday life. Artists capture the changes in life, the beauty, the horror and even the mundane and through their work give the general public a glimpse of something they may not have considered.
