Clarendon St Pop-up Exhibition at MECC (April 2026) (at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre)
Collection 1) The Great Southern Melting Pot: A Tapestry of Australia The Great Southern Melting Pot celebrates the cultural diversity and spirit of unity that define Australia, weaving together migration, landscape, city, and country into one evolving story. Inspired by journeys across oceans to Australia and the planting of new roots, the artwork reflects transformation and belonging. A patchwork of customs and ideas shapes identities through shared experience, building the contemporary nation we see today. Urban skylines dissolve into vast horizons, multicultural streets meet sunlit plains, and iconic Australian wildlife, kangaroos bounding across open fields, koalas nestled in eucalyptus trees, and vibrant parrots cutting through wide blue skies, become living symbols of place. Together, heritage, landscape, and native fauna merge to express a nation where diversity is not only about origin, but about how people, nature, and community come together to create something uniquely and beautifully shared. Collection 2) Legacy and Vision: 30 Years of MECC As we don't have artwork specifically featuring the MECC and its history in our portfolio, we've taken the creative liberty of interpreting this theme as 'Where We Began, Where We're Going'. This artwork reflects the journey of the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre over the past 30 years, capturing the transformation from natural landscape to a vibrant hub of connection, ideas, and progress. Through a blend of country and architectural forms, the piece honours the land that came first while celebrating the buildings and spaces that now bring people together. Organic textures and flowing elements represent the natural environment and its enduring presence, while structured lines and layered forms suggest the evolving cityscape. Together, these elements illustrate the passage of time and the growth that has shaped the centre into the dynamic place it is today. Where We Began, Where We’re Going celebrates three decades of innovation and community at the MCEC, acknowledging its foundations while looking forward to the future still unfolding. Additional themes have also been suggested below as inspirational food for thought, and to share the diversity of other artwork in our portfolio (which can be swapped out with artwork in the first two themes).
